How to Export a Transparent PNG

Prepare clean edges and export an emblem without an unwanted background.

5 minute read · Updated July 2026

Understand transparency

Transparency means the empty canvas has no color information. A checkerboard or dark editor surface is only a preview and should not appear in the exported PNG.

Inspect the outer edge

Hide any background layer before export. Zoom in around the silhouette and remove accidental shapes that extend beyond the intended boundary.

Choose the right size

EmblemForge works on a 512 by 512 canvas and exports at 1024 by 1024 for cleaner downscaling. PNG preserves sharp color boundaries and alpha transparency.

Verify the file

Open the exported image in a second app or browser tab and place it over multiple backgrounds. If an edge looks soft, simplify the source shape rather than repeatedly enlarging the output.
