Frequently asked questions

Clear answers before you start.

How the editor works, what stays local, and what EmblemForge can and cannot do with games.

Is EmblemForge an official Call of Duty or BO2 tool?

No. EmblemForge is an independent fan-made editor with original code, interface, and templates. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Activision or Call of Duty.

Can I import an emblem directly into BO2?

No. BO2 does not provide a public web API for importing PNG files or synchronizing third-party editor projects. EmblemForge can export a PNG and provide layer information for manual recreation.

How many layers can I use?

The editor is designed around a 32-layer workspace. Original templates generally use fewer layers so you have room to personalize them.

Are uploaded images sent to a server?

No. Uploaded PNG, JPG, and WebP images are decoded and edited locally in your browser. Canvas contents are not sent to EmblemForge analytics or hosting systems.

What happens if I close the browser?

Unsaved session data may be lost. Export a project JSON when you want to continue later and export PNG files for finished artwork.

Can I use a template commercially?

You may remix EmblemForge templates into finished artwork. You may not resell or republish the template library itself as a competing collection. You remain responsible for third-party material you add.

Why does the PNG have a transparent background?

Transparency lets the emblem sit cleanly over different surfaces. Add a background layer before export only when you intentionally want a solid square image.

Does EmblemForge remove image backgrounds?

Not in the first release. Cropping, tracing, filters, and AI background removal are planned for a later phase after privacy and performance requirements are addressed.

Which browsers are supported?

Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari are the target. The editor needs modern Canvas APIs and JavaScript enabled.

How do I report a problem or rights concern?

Use the Contact page for product feedback. Copyright and trademark notices should use the dedicated address listed on the Copyright page.
