Composition

How the Obsidian Key design is constructed.

Obsidian Key is a mysterious keyhole crest framed by mirrored shoulders. It combines lock imagery with a tall ceremonial shield instead of drawing a literal metal key.

A dark outer crest encloses purple shoulder planes, a long center core, and a pale keyhole-like opening. The lower stem makes the center symbol feel embedded in the shield.

BO2 reconstruction status

A native-shape guide is available.

This guide uses 12 documented BO2-native shapes and shows the layer order step by step for manual reference.

The online template and exported PNG are planning references. They cannot be imported into BO2 or synchronized with a game account.

Color decisions

Why this palette works

Purple signals mystery, near-black builds the lock, and pale gray reveals the opening. Keep purple away from the center stem so the keyhole stays distinct.

Focal point: The pale opening around the dark center stem is the focal device.

Make it yours

Three useful variations

  • Use muted gold for an ancient vault theme.
  • Widen the shoulders for a heraldic shield.
  • Shorten the center stem for a compact lock symbol.

Quality control

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Closing the pale opening around the stem.
  • Offsetting the stem from the crest peak.
  • Making shoulders so tall they resemble ears.
