Composition

How the Steel Eye design is constructed.

Steel Eye is a mechanical surveillance symbol constructed from an angular lens and armored eyelids. It should feel precise and impersonal rather than organic.

A broad dark diamond defines the eye boundary. Red side shutters converge on a central dark lens, while a pale inner outline sharpens the opening.

BO2 reconstruction status

A native-shape guide is available.

This guide uses 13 documented BO2-native shapes and shows the layer order step by step for manual reference.

The online template and exported PNG are planning references. They cannot be imported into BO2 or synchronized with a game account.

Color decisions

Why this palette works

Charcoal supplies the housing, red signals an active mechanism, and pale gray separates the lens opening. Restrict red to the shutters so the eye does not become a flat red diamond.

Focal point: The compact center lens is the point every surrounding angle should target.

Make it yours

Three useful variations

  • Change red to green for a scanning interface.
  • Narrow the opening for a more suspicious expression.
  • Rotate the complete assembly for a diagonal tech badge.

Quality control

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Offsetting the lens from the outer diamond.
  • Leaving different gaps above each shutter.
  • Filling the entire opening with the highlight.
