Design original BO2 ghost emblems with simple rounded bodies, expressive eyes, clean tails, and playful color accents.
7 minute BO2 tutorial - Updated July 2026
Build one readable ghost body
A rounded top, two eyes, and a simple wavy lower edge identify a ghost faster than complicated shading. Let the body occupy most of the playercard and keep the face near the middle.
Use a darker shadow shape behind the body when you need separation from a dark interface. The shadow should follow the same overall silhouette rather than add unrelated spikes.
Give the face one mood
Small dot eyes feel shy, wide eyes feel surprised, and tilted eyes feel mischievous. Pair them with one mouth mark or cheek accent instead of several competing expressions.
A single cyan, pink, or warm accent can add personality while the body stays pale and readable.
Use the tail as a compositional tool
A short tail wave can point toward the center or balance a floating head. Keep it broad enough that it does not become a thin line at thumbnail size.
Keep it original
Do not trace a film, cartoon, or game ghost. Change the body proportions, eye style, colors, and accent placement until the character has its own identity.
Practical example
Friendly Ghost uses a pale body and small cyan waves, while Arcade Ghost uses a blockier silhouette and colorful pixels. Both leave generous empty space around the face so the eyes and mouth stay clear.
Begin with the body, then place the eyes before drawing the lower tail. The tail should balance the character rather than make it look like an unrelated triangle.
Before you finish
The body reads as a ghost without its face.
The eyes communicate one clear mood.
The lower edge is simple and broad.
The character is not traced from a film, game, or cartoon.
Friendly Ghost is an original soft mascot with a rounded hood, shy face, rosy cheeks, and two small cyan motion waves.
Two nested circles form the head while a matching square creates the lower skirt. The eyes, mouth, and cheeks sit high enough to leave a clear lower ghost body.
Ink blue frames the composition, warm white carries the ghost, pink softens the cheeks, and cyan adds a small floating-motion cue.
Try this variation: Change the cyan waves to lavender for a softer mood.
Arcade Ghost is an original stepped mascot that borrows the grammar of pixel art without reproducing a known arcade character. Square eyes and a split lower trail carry the retro identity.
A dark stepped shadow outlines a blue body. Two socket layers hold square pale eyes, while the dark mouth and two colored glitch bars create the expression and motion.
Blue is the main sprite body, charcoal supplies outline and cavities, pale gray forms the eyes, and tiny pink-yellow glitches add arcade noise.
Try this variation: Shift the glitch bars to change the motion direction.
Happy Hazard turns a triangular warning badge into an absurdly cheerful face. The contrast between danger geometry and an uneven grin creates the joke.
A dark warning triangle contains two mismatched accent eye regions, a compact center nose, and a broad pale grin. The face stays inside the sign rather than floating above it.
Pink-red provides warning energy, charcoal keeps the sign legible, and pale gray carries the grin. A second accent should be tiny if used at all.
Try this variation: Turn one eye into an X for a slapstick variation.
