Cute BO2 Emblem Ideas With Original Characters

Build cute BO2 emblems with simple mascots, large expressions, and game-friendly geometric layers.

8 minute BO2 tutorial - Updated July 2026

Choose a simple mascot

Stars, cats, ghosts, moons, and original masked characters can read clearly with a limited BO2 layer budget. Establish ears, points, or a rounded frame before drawing the face.

Use large facial features

Make the eyes and mouth broad enough to survive at playercard size. Tiny eyelashes, hair lines, and detailed shading usually consume layers without improving recognition.

Use a compact palette

Combine one dark outline color, one soft main color, a pale face or highlight, and a small warm accent. This keeps the character friendly without reducing contrast.

Use Cute templates as concepts

Star Buddy and Lunar Cat provide editable browser examples, but they do not yet have verified BO2-native Build Guides. Remix their visual ideas without treating their custom layer lists as in-game instructions.

Practical example

Star Buddy uses a large familiar silhouette and a tiny face, while Lunar Cat uses a crescent to frame a more detailed mascot. Choose one approach: character inside a symbol or character framed by a symbol.

Friendly designs benefit from generous empty space. Enlarge the eyes or mouth only until they remain readable, then stop. Overfilling the face can turn a calm mascot into visual noise.

Star Buddy

Star Buddy is an original friendly mascot made from a five-point star and a very small face. The character succeeds through generous empty space and simple expression layers.

The dark rear star creates an outline, a yellow foreground star supplies the body, and compact eye, mouth, and focus shapes sit near the lower center.

Warm yellow makes the mascot friendly, charcoal outlines every point, and pale facial details stay small. Avoid coloring each star point differently.

Try this variation: Change the mouth curve for a sleepy or serious mood.

Lunar Cat

Lunar Cat places an original cat face inside an open crescent. The mint moon acts as both frame and atmosphere, while the compact mask keeps the character readable.

The crescent sits behind a dark cat silhouette with separate mint ears. A pale face plate contains narrow eyes, a pink nose, and a small mint smile.

Mint connects moon and ears, charcoal defines the cat, off-white opens the face, and pink is limited to the nose. The small accent hierarchy keeps the mascot calm.

Try this variation: Use lavender for a dusk version.

Arcade Ghost

Arcade Ghost is an original stepped mascot that borrows the grammar of pixel art without reproducing a known arcade character. Square eyes and a split lower trail carry the retro identity.

A dark stepped shadow outlines a blue body. Two socket layers hold square pale eyes, while the dark mouth and two colored glitch bars create the expression and motion.

Blue is the main sprite body, charcoal supplies outline and cavities, pale gray forms the eyes, and tiny pink-yellow glitches add arcade noise.

Try this variation: Shift the glitch bars to change the motion direction.
